Adoption leave and pay: technical guidance published

baby-20607_640BIS has published technical guidance for employers on adoption leave and pay following the recent changes. There is still a 26 week qualifying service requirement for adoption pay, but employees are now entitled to take adoption leave from day one of employment. Eligibility for adoption leave and pay has been extended to include parents in a surrogacy arrangement (‘Parental Order’ parents). Eligible employees and agency workers with 12 weeks’ service are also now entitled to take time off work to attend up to 5 adoption meetings, and Parental Order parents are entitled to take time off to attend antenatal appointments.
